AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices, such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. Devices that, working at the same voltage, require higher currents, use larger size AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increased efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products that had been designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. A AAA battery measures 44.5mm in length and 10.5mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh about 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA batteries weigh about 7.6 grams, and rechargeable batteries (Ni-MH) normally weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5V, while Ni-MH or NiCd batteries are 1.2V. The capacity of AAA alkaline batteries is typically 900-1155mAh (3240-4158 coulombs).
